I think my kitten Boo Boo may have a problem. I'm hoping she has the strength to admit her weakness and change her ways, or she may find herself on the side of the road with a bindle hitching a ride to the next town.
I keep a bunch of my threads in plastic bags for later use (they're often grouped by color or type.) Two mornings ago, I was home and on the computer, and I heard a crinkling sound. I looked under the computer desk, and back in the corner sat Boo on top of a huge pile of bags of silks and over-dyed flosses. I guess during the night she had been carrying them from where I had them to her own hidey place. Of course I laughed and picked them all back up.
But now, we're having awkward encounters in the hallway. I'll be on my way to the kitchen, and she'll stop mid-stride to look at me, a plastic bag of floss hanging from her mouth like a dead mouse. After a good long look at each other, I sigh and retreat to the fridge for a piece of cake, and she skips away happy as can be with another bag of stash to add to her pile.
Hey, you can find a fan page for me now on Facebook -- if you're already a member of the Facebook community, just do a search for "Shakespeare's Peddler" to find my designs and commentary, and you can join up to become an "official fan." Happy stitching!
What a hysterical story and how can you resist that sweet, innocent little face - too cute! So if our little bags have teeth holes, we'll all know why, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Boo!! I am a Stash-a-holic too!!! lol. Can I have some of your stash.... lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitten !!! They are fun to watch. Boo seems to fit you just fine !!
Ah, we have cats with similar tastes! My Olivia will steal any floss she can find whether it's on bobbins or bags or on the skein.
ReplyDeleteAnd Olivia looks just like a kid with her paw in the cookie jar if I catch her with her "stash".
What wonderful creatures!
How cute of your sweet kitty! I once had a cat that would perforate the edges of photos if I left them out where he could get them.
ReplyDeleteI searched for you on facebook "shakespear's peddler" and it came back no results. Maybe I tried too soon??
How funny Does she need to enter a 12 step program?
ReplyDeleteBetty
Hey Peggy, make sure to type in "Shakespeare's Peddler" (you'll need that "e" on the end of Shakespeare.) And Betty, if I find a 12-step needlework program for kittens, Boo is going!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at your kitties antics. I have a stash thief of my own. (His picture is featured on the side bar of my blog) Though I do get him to trade with me most of the time. That is a bit easier with a dog (my thief) than a cat.
ReplyDelete:)
Good luck finding your stash.
Too funny! Maybe Boo is part bower bird?
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling Boo is :) My Lil' Red eats floss :(
ReplyDeleteOh my - that made me laugh out loud! What a cutie she is :)
ReplyDeleteThat cat is too cute. My Punkin use to run away with floss bobbins. I came home to a wonderland of floss around chair and table legs. What a mess, but just so funny.
ReplyDeleteGive the cat a big hug from me.
Have a blessed day.
Oh, how cute!! I love kitties...my doggy keeps me company whenever I stitch or knit...ok...I'm on Facebook, so here I go to find you!
ReplyDeleteEspecially love the "awkward encounters in the hallway" part lol.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Perhaps Boo needs her own stash bag!
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa! It always helps to spell it right.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet kitty Miss Boo is...love the idea of her carrting those bags of floss like a little mouse~
ReplyDeleteBoo is quite the character!!! You have taught him to love thread, too! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteHello I discover your blog, and I find things wonderful amities congratulations of FRANCE there
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute.
ReplyDeleteBe strong, Boo. ;)
Great story! Just be sure she doesn't chew through the bag and eat the floss.
ReplyDeleteMy cat does that; several trips to the emergency vet later, I've FINALLY learned to keep my threads out of her reach.
Such an adorable face, though.

What a cute story -- I think it must be a cat thing. Our little Abby loves to put teeth marks on anything plastic and if it crinkles, she loves it even more. She has learned to leave my floss alone (and do be warned floss or ribbon or the likes can be fatal to curious cats). Our Abby loves to crunch through the plastic covering that comes over the bottled ice tea that I adore drinking while stitching.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! My cats love to take naps on my patterns and project bags. Apparently, they are very soothing! The hallway encounters are the funniest part of the whole thing. I can just see her, hoping you won't take her precious find away.
ReplyDeleteIf YOU don't talk to your cat about stash, who will?
ReplyDeleteCute story - at least Boo has good taste, huh?
How can you get mad at that adorable face. she sure is a cutie !
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - it's too funny - I laughed out loud! I can identify with this with two young kitties myself! They just want to help - or is it "us kitties just want to have fun" (using the Cyndi Lauper tune to go with!)!

Well, at least the little thief has good taste!
ReplyDeleteYour little Boo is just helping you keep your stash organized! How can you get frustrated at that little face anyway?! What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThat's just too funny...don't they just think of ways to entertain us. At least you'll know where to find your thread.
