She really only suffered the last day. Two days ago, she was still climbing me like a tree to sit on my shoulder while I made popcorn. Last night, I was using a syringe to try to get some fluids in her, as she wouldn't eat or drink anymore.
Our vet gave her gas before administering the medication to end her life. She had eight weeks of kitten fun at our home ... warm bottles of homemade formula, lots of kitten friends, sunny windows, and a chance at a long healthy and happy life. A chance many kittens in her position would not have had.
We will not forget Violet. And I am not yet out of tears for this one.
Truly heartbreaking. I'm sending you hugs. What a beauty. I'm speechless.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to her about the loss of sweet Violet. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Theresa.
ReplyDeleteI'm teary-eyed just reading the post. She was soooooooo sweet.
You did all you could for her, and she had a happy 8 weeks with you and your family. She knew in her heart that you cared.

I'm so sorry that you're grieving again. Poor little Violet.
ReplyDeleteYoung animals just like babies are fragile creatures/individuals. Unfortunately you have been visited with two recent tragedies. Hang in there, you are helping them even if it is for only a short time.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteMany many people volunteer - but you - with your choice - volunteer with an open heart - the toughest and most courageous thing you can do. I have So much respect for you.
ReplyDeleteI have not run out of tears yet for my beautiful Boxer either and I so know your pain right now. My thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteT, we all have come to love your kittens because you introduce them to us and it almost feels like we are there. In this season of overcrowded shelters and many little lives being ended for lack of permanent homes I can only think that Violet was so blessed to have a few weeks of a wonderful life so many will never know.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing good! Angela
Oh Theresa, I am so very sorry.
ReplyDelete...Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I was beside you....
I loved you so -
'twas Heaven here with you.

Just broke my heart to hear of the little baby's passing. Such a cutie! At least you know that you gave her the love and caring she deserved before her passing.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs and prayers to you and Violet.
ReplyDeleteHow very very sad. At least Violet was loved and cared for by you in her short life, and i'm sure she knew that.
ReplyDeleteTears in my eyes too. Violet had a very love-filled life thanks to you, and hopefully soon you will be thinking of her with smiles instead of tears. ... jan

ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. When my mother was living, she rescued and saved hundreds of cats and kittens. Your stories remind me so much of her. I admire you for all that you do. Cats leave paw prints on our hearts.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have lost another kitten. I feel your sadness.
ReplyDeleteI know you are really sad, but please remember all of the ones you save too.
God Bless.
Sending big hugs your way.

ReplyDeleteMy heart is broken for you. Sweet Violet...playing in heaven now.
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear that news Theresa - she'll be safe and well now at the rainbow bridge. Melody
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I'm so sorry for all our loss, but especially your family's. She was a real beauty -- one so many wanted to belong to. Maybe her reason for being with you was to make us all think a little more about adopting... She was loved and happy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge blessing that she eight weeks with you! I adopted a sweet little kitten yesterday - as I walked through the shelter, I just wanted to take them all home with me - thank you for all you do to save these precious little ones. My new little one is Cassandra - Cassie for short and Bella (who I rescued in January) hates her with a passion :-) It's only been 24 hours and I know they will become good friends eventually.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry Theresa for your loss of Violet!! Sending lots of hugs!

I am so sorry to read about sweet Violet. She had such a sweet face & would gave grown into being a gorgeous cat. Life is just so unfair sometimes. You have had a heartbreaking weekend. I wonder how you carry on but at the same time I know why you do. Each kitten and cat that is dumped or mistreated needs people like you & I am so glad that you are there to help them & to give them so much love, even if it is only for a short while.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
oh Theresa, another little angel !
ReplyDeletewhat a sad week for you
Oh Theresa, I am so very sorry to hear about dear, sweet little Violet. What a shame, she would have been such a lovely pet. Life certainly isn't fair. She was so lucky to have been loved in your home for the short time she was here. It must have been a very difficult time for you. Once more I praise you for what you do for these little ones. Thank you.
