Tiny new friends have arrived

These kittens were taken to the shelter by animal control on Monday, and I picked them up on Tuesday afternoon with their young mother.  They are only a few days old -- their eyes are not open yet, and each one is about the size of, oh, maybe a cell phone.  There are four little faces there -- I took two snapshots last night with my cell phone.  We don't have names yet for anyone, but we think that since these little babies were born Easter week, they might be Peep, Peter, Jelly Bean and Bunny.  It'll depend on how many of them are girls/boys (we can't tell yet.)

Their mother is an extremely sweet, patient, loving and gentle young lady.  She is very small -- and we think she is MAYBE ten months old herself.  She is tiny -- maybe seven pounds?  But she's taking care of these four young un's like a champion.  She has adjusted well to our guest room where I have set up the "playpen," a little box, food and water (she ate TWO cans of cat food last night.)  Our cats are very curious but have to stay outside of the nursery.  Silly Zero is the worst as far as patience goes.  He keeps vigil outside the door.

We have to name the momma cat, too, and right now, Graham and I think we may call her "Joan" after Joan of Arc, who was also young, but valiant and brave.

Aw at first I when I saw the thumbnail on my blogger dashboard I thought it was a baby panda! But kittens will do too! Joan sounds like a wonderful name for the momma cat :)

Oh I want, I want, I want!! They are just the cutest little things ever. Poor little Joan - so little to be having babies. You do such invaluable work by fostering the kitties for such a short time xx

Look at these brave new souls! You are an Angel to have rescued them, and their very young Mama. I think "Joan" is the perfect name.

They are pretty cute and their mother looks very vigilant. Such big eyes!

Joan sounds like a very appropriate name for her.

Aren't Joan and her babies so very lucky to have you. Wishing them all the best of healthy and a happy home. Oh why can't folks fix their critters? If they can't afford to fix 'em, don't get 'em. Bless you Theresa!

They are just sooo precious!
Goodness, ten months seems so young to be a momma already!

Fortunately, this will be Joan's last litter. When she is finished nursing her kittens, and ready, the shelter will have her spayed, and we will work on finding her a good home where she will be spoiled and loved.

They are so little and adorable! You guys think of great names! I hope they find good homes-too bad I don't have more space. But, I think my family would kill me if I get one more cat!

Tabasco is doing so great and he is so funny. Every time we go to pet him he falls out onto his back or his side for you to rub his stomach!

What? You wait to determine their gender before naming them? LOL, I NEVER do that. Maybe that's why I have a girl cats named Spike and Osama and I used to have a boy cat named after a female goddess.

They all look so sweet. Momma kitty too!

Awwww! They are so adorable. I just love baby kittens (and puppies) There is a special place in heaven for such a pet lover-saver and for pets like Joan d'Arc!
Thank you.

Ohhhh! I love them all.
The mother is a beauty! Johanna (german version)is really a nice name for her.
I want to be a cat in your house, I think it is heaven.
Please don´t stop posting fotos and stories around your cats. It is so interesting to read about it, also about the shelter.

What sweet little faces! How lucky these furbabies are to have a loving Angel as yourself! Are you keeping them all? The mother looks so sweet (and tired) and God's blessing on you for giving them a home!
